Public Listening Session

The TVA Board conducts its business in public meetings throughout the year, on Thursday, April 3, 2008 the Board has scheduled a public listening session before its meeting.  This will enable the Board to hear from members of the public before it meets.

Knoxville Knox County League of Women Voters Meeting

April 15, 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., (EDT)

Knoxville, Tennessee - Beck Center, 1927 Dandridge Avenue

TVA, Southeast Watershed Forum, and Metropolitan Planning Commission staff will offer a lunchtime presentation about Quality Growth.  The presentation will cover the impact of land use on communities; quality growth - what it is and why communities benefit; a new Quality Growth worksheet to help communities assess how their development rules and practices stack up against quality growth principles; and some East Tennessee initiatives which will help move the region toward quality growth.

Eighteen Annual Tennessee American Water Resources Association Symposium

The Tennessee Section of the American Water Resources Association strives to promote the advancement of water resources research, planning, and education by providing an annual forum to exchange multidisciplinary ideas about water issues throughout Tennessee and the surrounding region. The Tennessee Section has provided this annual forum since 1988.  TVA will have a speaker at the symposium to discuss ‘Operation of the Tennessee River Reservoir System in Extreme Drought’.

Land Use Planning for Water Quality

April 24, 8:30 a. m. – 4:30 p.m., (CDT)

Nashville, Tennessee - David Lipscomb College, One University Park Drive

This workshop provides information and tools to integrate conservation into the comprehensive planning process.  It also provides information on types of lands to conserve, data sources, how to prioritize lands and implementation options.  There is a hands-on exercise as part of the workshop to provide an opportunity to implement the concepts identified.  The workshop, part of the Tennessee Growth Readiness Program in partnership with the Southeast Watershed Forum and the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, provides additional tools and information to communities to protect water quality as they develop.  There will be a TVA presenter at the workshop.

Powell River Partnership

Big Stone Gap, Virginia - Mountain Empire Community College

Monthly progress and updates on activities and grants affecting the watershed of the Powell River in Wise and Lee Counties will be discussed.

4-County Electric Power Association

April 24, 2008, 3-7 p.m. (CDT)

Catalpa Creek, Mississippi - East Mississippi Community College (Oktibbeha and Lowndes Counties)

The open house will be to present TVA’s plans to improve electrical service in the local region.  TVA staff will host and attend open house to present maps of the study area and additional information regarding the process for siting transmission lines and to discuss the project with property owners and stakeholders.
