Water Laws, Requirements & Information
TVA along with all other Federal Agencies is required by law (EPAct92, EPAct05 and EISA 2007) and Presidential Executive Orders (E.O. 13423) to reduce water use and related energy in its facilities. Specifically TVA must:
1. Reduce water consumption intensity, relative to the baseline of the agency’s water consumption in FY 2007, through life-cycle cost-effective measures by 2% annually from FY 2008, through the end of FY 2015.
2. Apply sustainable design principles to the siting and design of all new buildings including water efficiency.
3. Complete, for each calendar year, a comprehensive energy and water evaluation for approximately 25% of the facilities.
4. Implement any energy- or water-saving measure that the Federal agency identified in the evaluation that is life-cycle cost-effective.
