John Sevier Fossil Plant

TVA has taken a number of steps to make the efficient generation of power at John Sevier as clean as possible:

The plant is equipped with electrostatic precipitators that capture ash from the burning coal.
The use of low-sulfur coal from Virginia reduces emissions of sulfur dioxide (SO₂ ).
Low-NO_x burners limit the production of nitrogen oxides (NO_x), which contribute to the formation of ozone and acid rain.
