Kentucky Lock Addition - Modifications to Previously Approved Disposal Sites
Kentucky Dam Reservation, Livingston County, Kentucky
The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) proposes to create additional disposal capacity for excess rock and soil associated with construction of the Kentucky Lock Addition project within previously-identified disposal sites on the Kentucky Dam Reservation. The Kentucky Dam Reservation is property under the control of TVA. A joint environmental assessment was prepared in 2006 by USACE and TVA to document the potential effects of using these onsite disposal areas. The creation of additional disposal capacity would reduce transportation and construction costs and preclude the need to acquire additional property.
USACE, with the cooperation of TVA, evaluated the potential environmental effects of the proposed actions and prepared an environmental assessment (EA) to document findings. TVA has decided to adopt the USACE EA. TVA issued a finding of no significant impact on January 5, 2012. The TVA document is presented below.
