The Preserve Marina Owners Association Community Dock-Haw Branch
Pickwick Reservoir, Hardin County, Tennessee
On January 27, 2009, TVA issued a finding of no significant impact (FONSI) and a final environmental assessment (FEA) for proposed private water use facilities in Haw Branch on Pickwick Reservoir. The FEA was jointly prepared with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).
TVA and USACE received a joint application in December 2006 from The Preserve Marina Owners Association Inc. for floating community boat slips in Haw Branch, along the right-descending bank of Pickwick Reservoir at Tennessee River Mile 209.6. TVA and USACE issued a jointly prepared draft EA (DEA) of the proposed action for public comment in July 2007. All comments received on the DEA have been included and addressed in the FEA.
The potential environmental effects of permitting, constructing, and operating the proposed facilities are examined and documented in the FEA. The FEA also evaluates an associated access road from a previously approved ramp to an upland boat dry storage facility that would be built on nearby private land.
The boat slips and associated shoreline alterations require approval by TVA under Section 26a of the TVA Act and by the USACE under Section 10 of the River and Harbors Act and Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.
