Strata Solar Farm Project

McNairy County, Tennessee

On November 14, 2013, TVA issued a final environmental assessment (EA) and finding of no significant impact (FONSI) for its proposed purchase of electricity from two solar farms near Selmer, Tennessee.  The two solar farms would be constructed and operated by Strata Solar LLC.  TVA’s power purchase would be through its Renewable Standard Offer program, where TVA purchases qualifying renewable energy at market rates.

The two solar farms would occupy about 325 acres and have a combined output of 40 megawatts.  They would be interconnected to Pickwick Electric Cooperative for transmittal of the power to the TVA system.  The final EA describes the anticipated environmental impacts of the construction and operation of the solar farms.

A draft of the EA was issued for public comment in July 2013.  TVA did not receive any comments on the draft EA.
