TVA Nuclear Training Facility
Hollywood, Jackson County, Alabama
On April 19, 2010, TVA completed an environmental assessment and issued a finding of no significant impact for a proposed new centralized training and processing center for workers at its nuclear facilities.
Under the proposed action, TVA would purchase approximately 13.4 acres, including a vacant 36,000-square-foot building, in the Jackson County Industrial Park near Hollywood, Alabama. TVA would furnish the building with necessary training facilities and equipment, construct additional parking and an access road, and install a fiber optic telecommunication cable. TVA would consolidate the operations of its training and processing centers at the Watts Bar, Sequoyah, and Browns Ferry nuclear plants at the new facility. This consolidation would reduce operating costs and provide standardized training opportunities.
