Western Shores Water Use Facilities

Calloway County, Kentucky

On October 1, 2007, TVA issued a Final Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for water use facilities proposed by Western Shores Lot Owners Association on Kentucky Reservoir. The proposed facilities require approval by TVA under Section 26a of the TVA Act.

The Western Shores development is located between Tennessee River miles 46 and 48 on the west bank on Kentucky Reservoir, Calloway County, Kentucky. The Lot Owners Association proposes to construct five community water use facilities, a concrete launching ramp with access road, and excavate an area below normal summer pool at TRM 48. The developer has also requested approval of 29 private water use facilities for individual lakefront property owners between TRM 46 and TRM 48.

The facilities also require approval by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and were the subject of a joint public notice issued by the Corps and TVA. The USACE completed an environmental assessment on May 11, 2007 and issued a Section 10 permit on May 31, 2007. TVA completed a separate environmental assessment that supplements the USACE assessment and addresses facilities not included in the USACE assessment.
