Your health is calling

photoSince 2001, you and your dependents have had access to a voluntary 24/7 nurse line, an online health-information service and a confidential chronic-conditions program. These services are part of the medical benefits you receive as a TVA employee or a non-Medicare retiree (retirees on the Medicare Supplement Plan are eligible for the 24/7 nurseline).

Beginning Jan. 1, ActiveHealth Management will begin managing these services.

These additional services were formally managed by SHPS. The change to ActiveHealth does not impact your medical or prescription-drug benefits, which continue to be administered through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee and Medco.

In addition to administering the current programs, ActiveHealth also provides information that can empower you as a healthcare consumer.

The programs include:

CareEngine – ActiveHealth’s CareEngine system may identify opportunities to improve your care based on things such as how the different medicines you take interact with each other or medical tests you may want to consider with your doctor. ActiveHealth may provide you and/or your doctor with information called “Care Consideration” that you can use as you make your healthcare decisions. You may never receive a Care Consideration, but if you do, you are encouraged to discuss the information with your doctor and together decide what makes sense for you.

Informed Care Management – ICM provides personalized help for you or your dependent who has certain chronic conditions. You can have a registered nurse help you better understand your condition and help you actively work with your doctor. The nurse will share with you information about warning signs, medications and tests, including what the results mean. And, the nurse will provide support and help you identify practical steps you can take to improve your health.

If you have one of the following conditions, you are invited to call and participate in the ICM program.

If you meet the ICM qualifications, ActiveHealth may contact you to check your interest in starting the program. Participation is voluntary.

ActivePHR – Keeping track of your health information can be overwhelming, but you can make it easier through your Personal Health Record, or ActivePHR. ActivePHR stores and organizes your health information, including information from your doctors’ visits and prescriptions as long as you are enrolled in a TVA medical plan. Plus, you can update your record at any time with other health information.

All ActiveHealth programs and information are confidential.
