TVA Retirees

TVARA names 2009 Valleywide Officers

Each year at its annual meeting, the TVA Retiree Association elects new officers for the coming year. The 2009 leaders are the following:

“I am grateful to TVARA and TVA’s many retirees for the honor to have served as president,” said outgoing president Ron Loving. “I am confident that dedicated work and many good results will continue for all our benefit.”

Bidding benefits CFC

A one-week beach house rental in Panama City and the TVA 75th Anniversary quilt were top-dollar items in the TVA Combined Federal Campaign online auction this year. But lunches with executives Kim Greene, Jack Bailey and Bill McCollum also were among the top number of overall winning bids.

Retiree Larry Cavett and Procurement Supply Chain Specialist Jo-Ann Cavett were the high bidders on the quilt.

“We have always supported the Combined Federal Campaign, and this was an excellent opportunity to support the CFC and have a keepsake of our years with TVA,” says Larry Cavett. “We have not decided if we are going to hang the quilt or heirloom it so we can preserve it for our children and grandchildren.”

This year, a new category, Experience TVA, generated some excitement among bidders. These included TVA Police ride alongs, a TVA Police driving course, wildflower-monitoring trips, airboat rides on Guntersville Reservoir, and tours of the Buffalo Mountain wind farm, Raccoon Mountain Pumped Storage Plant and Fort Loudon Dam. In all, the 168 items in the auction raised almost $15,870 for CFC.
