Look mom, no texts!

We’d never admit it, but many of us have tried to send text messages on our cell phones while driving. Unlike talking with a hands-free headset, texting requires one hand, if not two. Many states have outlawed texting while driving, and the federal government has followed suit. President Obama has issued an executive order prohibiting federal employees from texting while using a government-provided vehicle or cell phone and when using their own phones and cars to conduct government business. The message is clear: A quick response to a text message or e-mail is not worth injuring yourself or others. Distracted driving is dangerous and unacceptable. For the safety of yourself, your colleagues and everyone you care about, please keep your focus off the phone and on the road.
