New employees

Cynthia Thompson and Scott Young joined TVA at Sequoyah
Nuclear Plant in September. Thompson is a business support
representative in the Electrical Maintenance Department, and
Young is a security manager.
Thompson provides budget/accounting, business reporting,
information processing, document control, procurement/
materials, facilities and equipment coordination, and general
office support. “It is great to work for a company that cares
about the environment and promotes the safety of its
employees,” she says.
Young provides oversight and supervision of the security
program. “Working with nuclear professionals who are
prepared to defend this plant against adversaries is the best
thing about coming to work,” says Young. “I also appreciate
the company’s promotion of safety and human-performance
fundamentals. At TVA, it is more of a shared belief than the
‘flavor of the day.’ I am impressed with the collaborative
nature of the plant organizations and the genuine willingness
to help fix issues rather than fix blame.”
