My job rocks

TVA employees are on the job 24/7, keeping the lights on, running the river system and supporting TVA’s operations. In this column, you’ll hear from TVA employees who can say, “My job rocks!”

Jason Woodle

Senior Adviser, Corporate Responsibility & Diversity, Knoxville West Tower

Jason Woodle, 33, has served as senior adviser to Senior Vice President Peyton T. Hairston Jr. since June of this year. A Knoxville native, Woodle played the saxophone in the Bearden High School marching band, majored in Religious Studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and earned a master’s degree in International Peace & Conflict Resolution at American University in Washington, D.C.

During his orientation to TVA, Jason Woodle took part in a fish-sampling project with Environmental Stewardship & Policy employees.

“I work in the various areas under Corporate Responsibility & Diversity, which includes Ethics & Compliance, Equal Employment Opportunity and the office of the Ombudsman for external stakeholders.

“For my orientation, I got to visit a number of TVA sites and learned a lot. I saw a fossil plant, a nuclear plant, a hydro plant and the pumped-storage facility. I also snorkeled on the French Broad River with the folks in Aquatic Monitoring & Management in Environmental Stewardship & Policy. I came away very impressed with TVA employees and their enthusiasm for their jobs.

“One thing I really love about my job is that it gets me in contact with so many different folks in so many different aspects of TVA operations. I work with people from inside and outside TVA on a number of issues – the rate increase, the fuel cost adjustment and other things – on their minds. A lot of times, people have part of the information, and they have formed an opinion based on what they know. My job is to listen, and from there my role is clarifying what’s going on.

“I love to travel, and I’m an outdoor enthusiast: fly-fishing, bass fishing, hiking, biking, backcountry camping, practicing woodland skills. My wife, Emily, also grew up in Knoxville, and we love spending time with family and friends.
