Clean Boating Campaign Coming to Watts Bar Reservoir

June 24, 2002

Boating safety information, clean boating supplies, and complimentary boat safety inspections will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at six public boat ramps on Watts Bar Reservoir.

Sponsored by TVA’s Melton Hill Watershed Team, Keep Roane Beautiful, and the Watts Bar Lake Association, the activities are part of the National Clean Boating Campaign. The campaign is held annually to help increase public awareness of clean boating practices. The theme of this year’s campaign is “Boating is good, clean fun. Let’s keep it that way.”

The six locations on Watts Bar are Watts Bar Dam, Spring City Boat Dock, Ladd Landing, Tom Fuller Park, Kingston Waterfront Park on State Highway 58, and the “wide spot” on River Road approximately four miles north of State Highway 68. Boat safety inspections will be conducted by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

In the event of inclement weather, the activities will be held July 13. For more information contact Melinda Andrews, Melton Hill Watershed Team, at 865-988-2442.
