June 22, 2005
ROGERSVILLE, Ala. – Brandy Barnett, a 2005 graduate of Lauderdale County High School, has won a college scholarship of up to $5,000 from TVA. She is one of 12 scholarship winners chosen by TVA this year.
Brandy is the daughter of Teresa Barnett, a business support representative at Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant. She plans to attend the University of North Alabama.
The TVA Employee Dependent Scholarship Program, which is administered by TVA University, was created in 1994 to reward excellence in academics by providing financial assistance to college-bound children of TVA employees. Each year, 12 renewable scholarships of up to $5,000 per year for up to five years are awarded to graduating high school seniors.
This year, more than 160 high school seniors applied for the scholarships, and winners were selected by a panel of college professors from across the Tennessee Valley.
