TVA To Hold Open House on Proposed Power LineJune 26, 2006 GOOSE CREEK, Tenn. – TVA will hold an open house from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. CDT Thursday, June 29, to hear public comments on a proposed new power line to meet planned growth in the Goose Creek area. TVA is considering alternative routes for the proposed new transmission line that range from 2.5 to 4.5 miles in length. The new line would begin at an existing TVA transmission line and extend to Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation’s new substation site northeast of Exit 61 on I-65. Plans for the Goose Creek development include 6,800 homes and 7 million square feet of commercial, retail and office space. “The growth in the Goose Creek area is expected to add 90 megawatts of electric load over the next 10 years,” said Roger Sparry, manager of transmission line siting for TVA.“This is similar to the current load for the Cool Springs area. Because MTEMC facilities serving the Goose Creek area nearing capacity, additional equipment is needed soon to maintain reliable electric service.” TVA will present alternative routes for the line at the open house to be held at Page High School Cafeteria, 6281 Arno Road, in Franklin. Detailed maps showing alternative routes for the proposed 161-kilovolt power line will be available, and TVA staff will be on hand to answer questions, discuss potential concerns and receive comments on the proposals. A map is available. For additional information or to submit comments, contact Tom Cureton, TVA, 1101 Market St. (MR 4G), Chattanooga, TN 37402-2801, call toll free 800-362-4355, e-mail newtransline@tva.com or visit TVA’s website. The deadline for comments is July 31, 2005. TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely selffinanced with revenues of $7.8 billion during 2005. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve approximately 8.6 million consumers in seven southeastern states.
