Jimmy Allen Named Economic Development Technical Services General Manager

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Jimmy Allen has been named general manager for TVA Economic Development Information and Technical Services based in Nashville.

Allen will oversee technical support services such as engineering and design assistance and data resources that support business expansion and relocation in the Tennessee Valley.

Allen joined TVA in 1994 and has worked in various capacities in customer services, marketing and economic development. Before coming to TVA, he was marketing manager for FMC Corp. in Tupelo, Miss. Allen has a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Vanderbilt University and a master’s in business administration from the University of Virginia.

“TVA is fortunate to have someone with Jimmy’s leadership ability, technical skills and initiative to lead our Technical Services group,” said TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development John Bradley.

TVA Economic Development helps make the Tennessee Valley a better place to live and work by partnering with distributor customers of TVA power, regional entities, state agencies and local communities to recruit new industries and expand existing businesses. In fiscal year 2005, TVA’s economic development efforts helped attract or retain 57,000 Valley jobs and generate more than $3.6 billion in capital investment. Economic development is a major part of TVA’s core mission.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely selffinanced with revenues of $7.8 billion during 2005. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve approximately 8.6 million consumers in seven southeastern states. TVA also manages the Tennessee River and its tributaries to provide multiple benefits, including flood damage reduction, navigation, water quality and recreation.
