TVA Asks for Comments on Proposed West Tennessee Transmission Line

April 9, 2014

STANTON, Tenn. – The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking the public for input on the location of power lines that would provide power to the new Memphis Regional Megasite, located in Haywood County.

Through a project funded by the State of Tennessee, TVA is identifying possible transmission routes from existing lines to the megasite. For flexibility in meeting the power needs of any industry locating to the site, TVA will study new transmission lines from TVA’s existing South Jackson-Cordova 161-kilovolt transmission line or the Haywood-Cordova 500-kilovolt transmission line.

Public input is encouraged, beginning with an open house on Thursday, April 24, 2014, from 3-7 p.m. CDT, at the Old National Guard Armory, 100 Boyd Avenue, Brownsville, Tenn.

Detailed maps showing the different locations being considered for the proposed transmission line will be available. TVA staff will answer questions, discuss concerns and receive comments. More information is available at http:/www.tva.com/transmissionprojects.

To submit comments, contact TVA’s Allen Miller toll free at 800-362-4355, by email at newtransline@tva.com or by mail to: W. Allen Miller, Tennessee Valley Authority, 1101 Market St., MR 4G, Chattanooga, TN, 37402-2801. The deadline for comments is May 26.
