Guntersville Reservoir at Short Creek boat ramp
TTVA annually monitors fish in various reservoirs across the Tennessee Valley region and invites local anglers and the public to participate. The fish are collected using boat-mounted, electro-fishing equipment. The units harmlessly stun the fish for a brief time and bring them to the surface, where they are examined and evaluated by TVA biologists. Once weighed, measured and counted, the fish are released.
News media representatives will have the opportunity to ride in the boats and observe the process. Reporters and photographers should wear sneakers or other boating shoes and appropriate attire. For more information, visit: http://www.tva.com/river/fishsurvey.htm.
Take Route 79 heading south toward Guntersville. Turn Left on Highway 431 South, turn left on Highway 227 (follow the signs toward Lake Guntersville State Park).
After leaving town you will go over the water a few times and head over a mountain. Coming off the mountain, the first bridge you will come to is Short Creek Bridge. The ramp and parking area are immediately beyond the bridge.
