TVA To Hold Open House on Proposed Power Line

September 26, 2005

BOLIVAR, Tenn. – TVA will hold an open house on Thursday, Sept. 29, to hear public comments on a proposed new power line that will improve reliable electric service to the area.

The transmission line would extend between four to six miles from TVA’s existing Pickwick-Memphis 161-kilovolt transmission line to the existing Bolivar Primary Substation, located north of Mecklinburg Drive, about one mile southwest of US Highway 64. The line is needed to improve reliability of electrical service to Bolivar ED, Southwest Tennessee EMC and Pickwick EC.

TVA will present alternative routes for the line at the open house to be held from 3-7 p.m. CDT at Bolivar Municipal Center (Conference Room A), 211 North Washington Street, Bolivar, Tenn.

Detailed maps showing alternative routes for the proposed 161-kilovolt power line will be available, and TVA staff will be on hand to answer questions, discuss potential concerns and receive comments on the proposals. A map and alternative route descriptions are available here.

For additional information or to submit comments, contact Fowler Tucker, TVA, 1101 Market St. (MR 4G), Chattanooga, TN 37402-2801, call toll free 800-362-4355, e-mail newtransline@tva.com or visit TVA’s website. The deadline for comments is Oct. 31, 2005.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self-financed. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve approximately 8.6 million consumers in seven southeastern states.
