TVA Co-sponsors Procurement Conference in Knoxville

September 12, 2005

Small business owners in the Knoxville area should have a better understanding of how to do business with the federal government after attending a conference co-sponsored by Congressman John J. Duncan Jr. and TVA.

The conference, held today in Knoxville, provided attendees with an opportunity to learn how the government procurement process works and how to compete for government contracts.

Representatives from U.S. government agencies, including the Department of Transportation, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Health and Human Services, Small Business Administration, Department of Commerce, the Appalachia Regional Commission and TVA, and the Tennessee Department of Transportation discussed various issues dealing with the procurement process.

Congressman Duncan is serving his 10th term representing Tennessee's Second Congressional District.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self-financed. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve approximately 8.6 million consumers in seven southeastern states.
