TVA To Hold Open House on Proposed Power Line
July 25, 2005
GREGORYS MILL, Ga. – TVA will hold an open house Thursday, July 28, to
hear public comments on a proposed new power line in Murray County.
The transmission line would extend approximately 7 miles from TVA’s existing
Alpha-Loughridge transmission line west of Eton to North Georgia Electric Membership
Corporation’s proposed substation near Gregorys Mill.
TVA will discuss several alternative routes for the line at the open house, to be
held from 3 -7 p.m. at Cohutta Springs Conference Center, 1175 Cohutta Springs Road.
The transmission line is needed to provide continued reliability while meeting the
growing power demand in the area.
Detailed maps of alternative routes for the proposed 115-kilovolt power line will
be available, and TVA staff will be on hand to answer questions, discuss potential
concerns and receive comments on the proposals. A map is available at
www.tva.gov/power/projects/index.htm.
