TVA To Temporarily Close Road Across Hiwassee Dam

MURPHY, N.C. -- TVA will close Hiwassee Dam Access Road (RP 1314) across Hiwassee Dam from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, and Wednesday, July 20, for general maintenance on the dam.
The road will be open during the late afternoon and through the night.
TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self-financed. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve approximately 8.5 million consumers in seven southeastern states. TVA also manages the Tennessee River and its tributaries to provide multiple benefits, including flood damage reduction, navigation, water quality and recreation.
