Jim Martin Joins TVA Economic Development Staff

MAYFIELD, Ky. – Jim Martin, former director of the West Kentucky Division of the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, has joined TVA’s Economic Development staff as a field specialist in the Kentucky region.

Martin will work with distributors of TVA power, community leaders, and state and regional economic development partners to create, sustain and foster job growth. His responsibilities include assisting prospective or expanding industries, providing financial and technical services and helping communities support and grow existing businesses.

As a director in the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, Martin oversaw the administration of the state’s community and economic development programs in 39 counties. He also was responsible for managing state incentive programs for new and expanding industry in the region and assisted other agencies develop competitive community and economic development strategies and project financing.

“We’re excited about having someone with Jim’s expertise join our economic development team,” said TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development John Bradley. “His talents and experience will serve TVA and the region well as we work to recruit new businesses and expand existing companies in TVA’s Kentucky region.”

Martin is a certified economic developer and a member of the International Economic Development Council and the Kentucky Association of Economic Development. Martin succeeds field specialist Melissa Morgan, who is now community development project manager in TVA’s Economic Development organization in Nashville. In her new role, Morgan will work throughout the Tennessee Valley to enhance TVA’s efforts in community preparedness and industrial recruitment.

In fiscal year 2004, TVA worked in partnership with various economic development organizations and partners to help attract or retain 50,388 jobs and leverage $2.1 billion in capital investment. TVA also provided more than $13.5 million in economic development loans.
