TVA Resumes Maintenance Work at Ocoee No. 2, Recreation Releases Unaffected

August 1, 2005

BENTON, Tenn. – TVA recently completed planned maintenance work on one of the generating units at its Ocoee No. 2 powerhouse and began work on the second unit on Aug. 1.

The work will not affect scheduled recreation releases for rafting below Ocoee No. 2 Dam.

In addition to TVA’s scheduled recreation releases, water will be released intermittently in the river channel between Ocoee No. 2 Dam and the powerhouse while the work is in progress. The timing and volume of the releases will vary depending on rainfall, power supply demands and upstream reservoir operations at Ocoee No. 3 and Blue Ridge Dams. The flow of water will usually be significantly lower than scheduled recreation releases and may stop, decrease or increase at any time without warning.

TVA expects to complete the project by the end of September. To view the scheduled 2005 recreational release calendar for Ocoee No. 2, visit http://www.tva.com/river/recreation/sched_ocoee3.htm.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self-financed.
