Ponseti To Chair Chattanooga Area Combined Federal Campaign

July 18, 2005

Tim Ponseti, general manager of Resource Planning and Forecasting for TVA, has been named chairman of the 2005 Greater Chattanooga Area Combined Federal Campaign.

The CFC is held annually to give federal employees the opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of local and national charitable, health and human service organizations.

This year, the CFC will kick off Sept. 14 with the theme: “Your gift could mean a changed life.” As chairman, Ponseti will oversee the 20-county Greater Chattanooga Area CFC spanning much of southeast Tennessee and parts of northern Alabama and Georgia.

“The theme plainly says what the Combined Federal Campaign can mean for people with significant needs,” said Ponseti. “Thanks to the generous spirit of federal employees every year, lives are dramatically changed for the better and our community becomes a better place. Each of us, as federal employees, makes a critical difference.”

Ponseti will be assisted during the campaign by other federal agencies in the Chattanooga area. Federal employees who will be working closely with Ponseti include Cecy Dunning, U.S. Postal Service, and Gail Satterfield, TVA. Also assisting will be Delores Lewis, CFC Director with United Way of Chattanooga; Dennis McCloud of TVA, who serves as chairman of the Local Federal Coordinating Committee; and Sharon Moore of the USDA Forest Service, who is vice-chair of the LFCC.

Last year’s campaign raised more than $1.2 million, increasing total gifts since 1987 to more than $22 million. Each of the 2002 and 2003 Chattanooga Area Combined Federal Campaigns raised more than $1.5 million for local and national charitable agencies—the highest amounts ever. Chattanooga area federal employees also have been honored several times in recent years for having the highest average gift per person for campaigns raising $1 million to $2 million worldwide.

Funds raised through 340 campaigns conducted nationwide support more than 1,900 local, national and international charitable agencies.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self-financed. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve approximately 8.5 million consumers in seven southeastern states.
