TVA Co-sponsors Procurement Conference at Fort Campbell

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – A one-day conference to help small business owners understand how to do business with local, state and federal governments will be held at Fort Campbell on Tuesday, Aug. 9.

Congressman Ed Whitfield’s Fort Campbell Procurement Conference will provide an opportunity to learn how the government procurement process works and how to compete for government contracts. The goal of the conference is to foster business partnerships between government and small business. The conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Cole Park Commons.

Steven Sullivan, U.S. Army Contracting Agency Headquarters liaison officer, will speak about Army procurement issues. A special breakout session, “Doing Business with the General Services Administration – How to Become a Federal Supply Schedule Contract Holder,” will also be offered. Participants will also have the opportunity to network with representatives from government agencies and business contractors.

Sponsors of the conference include TVA, Pennyrile Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation, Murray State University Small Business Development Center, Directorate of Contracting at Fort Campbell, U.S. Small Business Administration, Kentucky Procurement Assistance Program, Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Defense Logistics Agency.

Congressman Whitfield is serving his sixth term representing Kentucky's First Congressional District.

In fiscal year 2004, TVA worked in partnership with various economic development organizations and partners to help attract or retain 50,388 jobs and leverage $2.1 billion in capital investment. TVA also provided more than $13.5 million in economic development loans.
