Federal Employees Assist 35 Agencies During Annual CFC Days of CaringSeptember 7, 2006 CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - More than 400 federal employees are scheduled to work for charitable agencies throughout the area Friday, Sept. 8, and Saturday, Sept. 9, during the Greater Chattanooga Area Combined Federal Campaign’s 14th annual Days of Caring. Employees of TVA and the U.S. Postal Service will provide hands-on assistance for various requested projects – such as painting, building, cleaning, landscaping and cooking – to 35 local agencies that receive contributions from the CFC. TVA employees who volunteer will work on Friday, Sept. 8. Postal Service employees will volunteer on Saturday, Sept. 9. “By volunteering on the annual day of caring, federal employees can see first hand how they can make a difference,” said Marci Cooper, TVA’s senior vice president of Fossil Engineering and Technical Services and chair of the 2006 Greater Chattanooga Area Combined Federal Campaign. “The generous spirit of federal employees is exhibited throughout the year, but particularly on the CFC Day of Caring.” The CFC is held annually to give federal employees an opportunity to contribute to charitable, health and human services organizations in 20 counties in Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self-financed with revenues of $7.8 billion in 2005. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve approximately 8.6 million consumers in seven southeastern states. TVA also manages the Tennessee River and its tributaries to provide multiple benefits, including flood damage reduction, navigation, water quality and recreation.
