TVA Named as Top Utility By Site Selection Magazine

September 6, 2006

Site Selection magazine has named TVA to its list of “Top Utilities of the Year” in 2006 for outstanding economic development achievements in the Tennessee Valley.

The international magazine, which delivers business expansion planning information to more than 44,000 business and industry leaders globally, recognized TVA as one of the top utilities in North America for its efforts in generating capital investment and creating new jobs in the region, as well as the development of new programs and services for attracting economic activity.

Site Selection said TVA and other top utilities in this year’s rankings “competed for industrial projects and jobs by adopting innovative strategies to meet the needs of power- hungry businesses and keep their factories humming. Winning business strategies included new sites and buildings databases, smart growth policies, life science initiatives, programs to create certified sites, alternative energy investments, regional collaboration and innovative worker training,” the magazine said.

TVA’s economic development accomplishments are highlighted in the September 2006 issue of Site Selection magazine or on its web site, siteselection.com.

“We are extremely pleased that TVA is ranked as one of the top utilities in North America by Site Selection magazine,” said TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development John Bradley. “Our staff and economic development partners welcome the opportunity to showcase the Tennessee Valley to business and industry decision makers who look to Site Selection for valuable location and expansion information.”
