TVA to Test Alarm at Cumberland Plant

CUMBERLAND CITY, Tenn. — Residents near Cumberland Fossil Plant may hear the plant’s emergency alarm during testing between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. from Wednesday, July 16 through Friday, July 18.

Local fire departments, emergency management and law enforcement officials have been notified of the tests. People living nearby should ignore the alarm from the plant site during the testing period and not report it to 911 emergency dispatchers.

The alarm system is designed to warn employees in the event of a fire or other emergencies at the plant. Only the alarm is being tested, and employees will not be evacuating.

Cumberland Fossil Plant is located on the Tennessee River near Cumberland, Tennessee.
