TVA To Close One Lane of U.S. Highway 441 Across Norris Dam

November 29, 2004

NORRIS, Tenn. -- The northbound lane of U.S. Highway 441 across TVA’s Norris Dam will be closed for three months to allow work on the Unit 1 intake gate that controls the flow of water from the reservoir.

Equipment and work vehicles will be parked in the northbound lane for the duration of the maintenance project, which is scheduled to begin Monday, Dec. 6 and continue through Sunday, March 7, 2005.

Traffic lights will be used to direct one-way traffic across the dam. Motorists may want to consider another route until the repairs are complete.
