TVA Work To Affect Traffic Across Wheeler Dam

TOWN CREEK, Ala. – State Route 101 across Wheeler Dam will be closed between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, for maintenance on the crane used to raise and lower the gates that control water flow to the generating turbines.
Motorists may want to consider another route during those hours. TVA Police will be on site to direct traffic. The work will be postponed to the following week in the event of inclement weather or other delays.
The modifications at Wheeler are part of a system-wide effort to ensure the continued reliability and efficiency of TVA’s hydro plants.
