TVA Construction Requires 15-Minute Power Outage

October 25, 2007

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Some customers served by Murfreesboro Electric Department will be affected by a TVA-scheduled power outage that will begin at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, and will last about 15 minutes.

The outage will affect approximately 4,250 customers served by Murfreesboro Electric Department's Industrial Substation.

As result of rapid growth in the Middle Tennessee area and the continued commitment to provide reliable service, TVA is constructing a new 161-kilovolt transmission line to Murfreesboro's Primary Substation. The 15-minute outage at Murfreesboro Electric's Industrial Substation on Butler Drive is needed to complete the work.

Murfreesboro Electric customers affected by the outage include all residential, commercial and industrial customers on Butler Drive, Stephenson Drive and Joe B. Jackson Boulevard, as well as customers south of Butler Drive, including South Church Street.

Customers with questions should contact the Operations Department at Murfreesboro Electric at 615-893-5514.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self-financed. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve approximately 8.7 million consumers in seven southeastern states. TVA also manages the Tennessee River and its tributaries to provide multiple benefits, including flood damage reduction, navigation, water quality and recreation.
