Christopher R. Church
Plant Manager
Sequoyah Nuclear Plant
Christopher Church is the Plant Manager of TVA’s Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, with primary responsibility for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the plant.
Before coming to TVA, Church served as Operations Manager of Progress Energy’s H.B. Robinson Nuclear Plant Unit 2, a 710-megawatt pressurized-water reactor, in Hartsville, South Carolina. In that post he corrected a declining human performance trend and reorganized the department to increase efficiency and reduce excessive shift overtime. His previous positions with Progress Energy included Engineering Manager, Control Room Shift Supervisor, Engineering Programs Supervisor, and Plant Engineer.
From 1990 to 1994, Church served in the U.S. Navy. As a submarine-qualified Navy lieutenant, he held positions as Nuclear Engineering Officer/Senior Supervisory Watch and Weapons Officer aboard the U.S.S. Gato. During his service as a division officer he was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for successfully reversing his division’s five-year trend of below-average performance.
Church earned an M.S. degree in environmental engineering from the University of Colorado. His undergraduate degree is from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York.
