Tim Cleary joined TVA in August 2007 as Vice President, Sequoyah Nuclear Site. His role is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant in compliance with TVA Nuclear policies and procedures, plant technical specifications, and federal, state, and local regulations. He provides general management and oversight for all operational activities at the site, including engineering, modifications, operations and maintenance, site support, and training,
Cleary has more than 26 years of experience in the commercial nuclear power generation industry. Before coming to TVA he served as General Manager for Nuclear Plant Development and License Renewal at Progress Energy. In that capacity he was responsible for leading the effort to develop and submit combined operating license applications for several of the company’s nuclear sites.
Cleary spent over 22 years with Progress Energy, where he held a number of key management and engineering positions. He was Director of Site Operations at Brunswick Nuclear Plant and also served in various capacities at Robinson Nuclear Plant, including Plant General Manager, Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager, Engineering Manager, Engineering Supervisor, and Reactor Engineer.
Cleary is a registered Professional Engineer and earned a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. He has held Nuclear Regulatory Commission reactor operator and senior reactor operator licenses.
