Michael D. Skaggs

Watts Bar Nuclear Plant

Mike Skaggs was named Vice President of TVA’s Watts Bar Nuclear Plant in July 2005. He provides general management and oversight of all operations activities at the site.

Skaggs has more than 20 years’ experience in the nuclear and electric utility industry. He joined TVA in 1993 as Manager of Projects at Watts Bar Nuclear Plant and was certified as a Senior Reactor Operator during his tenure there.

In 1997, Skaggs joined TVA’s Transmission and Power Supply organization, working on the design and construction of transmission, telecommunications, and substation projects. Returning to TVAN, he served as Senior Staff Manager in Corporate before being named Maintenance and Modifications Manager at Browns Ferry in 2000. He served as Assistant Plant Manager and Plant Manager there before being named Site Vice President in 2004.

Before joining TVA, Skaggs worked for Texas Utilities’ nuclear division and BCP Technical Services. A licensed professional engineer, he holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech University.
