Power Supply Upgrade
TVA is considering improvements to the transmission system in the Ashland area.
Holly Springs Utility Department plans to build a new substation, which would replace outdated equipment and provide a continued supply of reliable power. TVA would build a transmission line to power the substation.
TVA will hold an open house on March 20, 2014 to provide information and answer questions.
The proposed project consists of 15 miles of new transmission line. The line would extend northeast from TVA’s existing Holly Springs-Miller 161,000 volt line in Holly Springs to the new substation, located north of Ashland at the intersection of Lamar Road and County Church Road.
The line would be built on steel pole structures. The new line would be built beside the existing 46-kilovolt line that currently serves Ashland, on a combination of existing and new right of way. The existing line would be removed once the new line is complete.
The project is expected to be in service fall 2018. Construction is scheduled to begin fall 2017.
(Dates are subject to change. During projects of this magnitude, unexpected issues may arise, resulting in the need to adjust the schedule.)
