Transmission System Projects

The following transmission line projects are currently being carried out by TVA.

Alabama

Helicon
TVA has announced a preferred route for about six and half miles of transmission line to power Cullman Electric Cooperative’s new substation in Arley, Alabama, which will relieve equipment that is nearing overload and reduce power outages.

Rainsville
TVA is proposing construction of a new two-to-three-mile transmission line in Rainsville to provide reliable power to the growing area.

Georgia

Gordon and Whitfield Counties
TVA is proposing construction of a new 15.5-mile transmission line in North Georgia to improve reliability and meet the growing power demand.

Kentucky

Alvaton
TVA is considering building a new transmission line that would relieve over loaded equipment and provide continued reliable electric service to south Warren County.

Burkesville
TVA is considering improvements to the transmission system in the Burkesville, Kentucky area. The improvements will replace aging electrical equipment and help provide reliable power to the Burkesville area.

Franklin
TVA is considering building a new transmission line that would relieve over loaded equipment and provide continued reliable electric service to the growing area.

Glasgow
TVA is planning improvements to the transmission system around Glasgow. Due to growth in the area, upgrades are needed to relieve overloaded facilities and ensure a reliable supply of power to the area.

Mississippi

Biggersville
TVA is considering building a transmission line that would power Alcorn County EPA’s new substation in Biggersville, Mississippi, needed to relieve overloaded of equipment and provide a reliable source of power to the area.

Bruce
TVA has announced a preferred route for about four miles of new transmission line to power Pontotoc EPA’s new substation in southwest Bruce, Mississippi, nwhich will reduce outages and provide a more reliable source of power to the area.

Buttahatchee
TVA has announced a preferred route for about two miles of new transmission line to provide power to the El Paso Gas underground pumped storage facility.

Fannin
Central EPA plans to build a new substation in Fannin, Mississippi and TVA plans to build about 4 miles of transmission line to power the substation.

Golden Triangle Area
TVA has chosen a preferred site and route for the transmission system upgrade TVA is considering. The improvements would provide backup power for several large industries.

New Hope
TVA is considering building a transmission line that would power 4-County EPA’s proposed new Lake Lowndes substation, needed to relieve overloaded equipment and provide a reliable source of power to the growing area.

Tennessee

Bells
TVA is considering improvements to the transmission system in the Alamo-Bells, Tennessee area.  The improvements will replace aging electrical equipment and provide reliable power to industry in the Bells area. 

Burlison
TVA is considering improvements to the transmission system that would relieve overloaded equipment and provide reliable power to Southwest Tennessee EMC’s customers in the Burlison, Tennessee area.  

Byrdstown
TVA is considering building a new transmission line that would improving voltage and outage issues to the Byrdstown area by providing a reliable source of power to Volunteer Energy Cooperative’s new substation.

Fayetteville
TVA is considering building a new transmission line that would provide power to Fayetteville Public Utilities’ new substation.

Knox County
TVA is considering building two new transmission lines and a switching station that would relieve overloaded equipment and provide additional power to the East Knox County area.

Marion County
TVA is considering building a new transmission line that would provide power to Sequachee Valley EC’s new substation.

Milligan College
TVA will build 1.5 miles of transmission line on existing right-of-way to power the Milligan College Substation, which is being upgraded by Elizabethton Electric Department.

Roane County
TVA is proposing construction of a new 1.2-mile transmission line along existing right-of-way to improve reliability and meet the growing power demand.

Rutherford-Williamson-Davidson Improvement Project
TVA is considering building a new 500-kilovolt (kV) substation and upgrading associated transmission lines. The substation would be located in Rutherford, Williamson, or Davidson County, with new and/or upgraded transmission lines also located in these and other counties in middle Tennessee.

Spring Hill
TVA has identified a preferred route for a new transmission line that would provide power to Middle Tennessee EMC’s new substation in the growing area of southern Williamson County.

Sumner County
TVA has identified a preferred route for a new transmission line that would strengthen the transmission system in Sumner County and meet the growing demand for power in the area.

Unionville
TVA has identified a preferred route for a new transmission line that would improve power reliability by providing an additional source of power to the growing area.

Union City
Union City Electric System proposes to build a new substation in Union City, Tennessee and TVA proposes to build about 3 miles of transmission line to power the substation.

White House
A new transmission line is needed to maintain reliable electric service and meet growing demand in the White House area.
