Public Notice

Proposed Action

Sale of TVA Property

Location

Fontana Dam Reservation, Graham County, North Carolina

Description

TVA is considering the sale of approximately four acres of land on Fontana Dam Reservation in Graham County, North Carolina, at a public auction.  TVA is seeking public comment as part of an environmental assessment prior to deciding on the sale.

The land, which is approximately 200 yards downstream of the existing water treatment plant, has been requested by Graham County, Robbinsville, North Carolina, for construction of a new water treatment plant. The requested property is located on reservoir property in the tailwaters of Fontana Dam, Little Tennessee River mile 60.0 (left bank), in Graham County, North Carolina.  Construction of a new 500,000-gallon-per-day water treatment plant would replace the existing water treatment plant that has reached the end of its useful life.

TVA is interested in receiving comments on the potential of the proposed action to affect the environment or historic properties, and to identify any other issues associated with this proposal.  These comments will be considered to reach a decision concerning the proposed action.  After completion of the environmental review, if TVA decides to sell the property, the property will be sold at public auction.

Any comments received, including names and addresses, will become part of the administrative record and will be available for public inspection.  All written comments on this proposed action must be received on or before November 12, 2011. Written comments may be mailed to the address below or emailed to twmccoy@tva.gov
