TVA campgrounds to open for 2007 season

TVA campgrounds on reservoirs throughout the Tennessee Valley will open on Friday, March 16, for the 2007 recreation season.

TVA’s day-use recreation areas remain open throughout the year. TVA operates about 100 public recreation areas throughout the Valley, including day-use areas, boat ramps and 11 campgrounds. The campgrounds will remain open until Nov. 19.

image of hill sideFees for campsites without water and electric hookups will be $16 a day, and fees for sites with hookups will be $20 a day. New sites at Melton Hill Dam Campground, which include water, electricity, and sewer connections, will be $24 a day.

TVA will honor the new America the Beautiful and Federal Recreation Lands Senior and Access Passes, giving a 50-percent reduction in camping fees to pass holders at its eleven campgrounds. TVA will continue to accept Golden Access and Golden Age Passports according to the provisions of the pass, but can no longer issue these passes due to new federal regulations. Holders of these passes will continue to receive a 50-percent discount on camping fees. Learn more about the new Senior and Access Pass program.

TVA-managed day use areas and boat launch ramps have no fees, except for picnic pavilions which are available at many areas for a flat fee of $50. Most pavilions feature electrical outlets, large charcoal grills, and convenient access to restrooms. Information on how to reserve and use picnic pavilions is available by calling toll-free 866-494-7186.
