Volunteers Needed

Help TVA Improve
Trails On Public Lands

TVA seeks volunteers to help make improvements at six locations to celebrate National Trails Day on Saturday, June 1.

Wilson Dam Trails, Muscle Shoals, Ala., 9 a.m.-Noon
Trail maintenance and litter pick up.
Directions: Meet at the Native Garden parking lot on the TVA Reservation in Muscle Shoals.

Buck Island Trail, Guntersville, Ala.,
8 a.m.-Noon
Re-establish and maintain trail, install signs, pick up litter at Buck Island trailhead.
Directions: From Guntersville take Hwy 431 towards Huntsville. After crossing the Tennessee River, turn right onto Gunters Landing Road. Take first left onto Buck Island Road; this road will dead end into a TVA parking lot for Buck Island Trail where the group will meet.

Hemlock Bluff Trail, Norris, Tenn.,
9 a.m.-Noon
Remove invasive plants from the trail.
Directions: From I-75: Exit on Highway 61 and go east (follow signs to Loyston Point Recreation Area), turn left onto Park Lane, turn right on Forgety Road, turn left on Mill Creek Road, turn right on Loyston Point Road, turn left before entering campground to trailhead on the left.

Whites Creek Trail, Rhea County, Tenn., 8 a.m.-Noon
General trail maintenance and removal of invasive plants.
Directions: From 1-40, take exit 347 for US27 toward Harriman/Rockwood, turn left on S. Roane Street, continue on S. Roane Street, S/N Gateway Avenue follow US 27 South, turn left onto E. Roddy Road. Trail will be on right.

Watauga Overlook Trail, Elizabethton, Tenn., 9 a.m.-Noon
Install new kiosk at Watauga Overlook trailhead.
Directions: From Elizabethton, turn right onto TN 91 North, turn right on Blue Springs Road, continue onto Steel Bridge Road, continue onto Wilbur Dam Road, turn left at River Road, turn left onto Wilbur Dam Road, stay on for trailhead parking lot and Visitor Center.

Hiwassee River Blueway, Reliance, Tenn., 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m., RSVP needed
Float trip on the Hiwassee River Blueway with Leave No Trace educational Information.
Directions: Take SR 30 off of US Hwy 411 to public access parking lot near Hiwassee Outfitters on Ellis Creek Road in Reliance.
