Senior Vice President and Chief Communications
and Marketing Officer

Janet Brewer is senior vice president and chief communications and marketing officer for the Tennessee Valley Authority, responsible for all internal and external communications programs for the nation’s largest public power provider. She reports to TVA’s president and CEO and serves on the company’s Executive Management Council.
Since joining TVA in 2012, Brewer has spearheaded the effort to improve awareness of TVA’s mission to serve the people of the Tennessee Valley through energy, environment and economic development. She leads a team responsible for strengthening TVA’s brand and reputation—proactively sharing TVA’s stories, promoting industry thought leadership, supporting internal change management and executing integrated marketing communications programs to achieve business objectives.
She has led the transition and implementation of TVA’s new digital communications platforms, including a redesigned website and internal and external video sharing capabilities to drive employee and stakeholder engagement. Her areas of responsibility include strategic communications and marketing, public relations and corporate information, digital and creative media, and internal communications.
Brewer previously served as vice president of communications for NCR Corp., a $5.4 billion global technology company. At NCR, she also led change management and communications for the company’s continuous improvement initiative and served as director of community relations. In addition, she managed all aspects of communications around the corporate spin-off of Teradata from NCR, which launched two publicly traded companies across separate industries and geographies.
Prior to that, she was senior director, communications, for Lexis-Nexis, a provider of online decision-support information, and director of community and public relations for the Reynolds and Reynolds Co., an information management company for the automotive industry. She also led a marketing communications consultancy serving public and private companies as well as non-profit organizations. She began her career at the Kentucky Department of Public Information.
Brewer has been actively engaged in community development efforts, and has led corporate and employee foundations, volunteer programs and corporate archives.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Eastern Kentucky University and completed the certification program in corporate community relations at Boston College.
