Doug Lawyer

Doug Lawyer, CEcD, is Vice President of Economic Development for the Knoxville Chamber, where he has worked since 2001. In his role at the Knoxville Chamber, Doug oversees the agency’s programs and staff in: business recruitment, retention and expansion, workforce development, as well as economic development marketing. 

Before joining the Knoxville Chamber, from 1996-2001, Doug was the Manager of Industrial Park Development and Property Management for the Development Corporation of Knox County. 

In 1994, he received a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Political Science from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.  In 1997, he was awarded a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from the University of Tennessee.

Doug received the designation of Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) from the International Economic Development Council in March 2009. 

Doug is a graduate of Leadership Knoxville’s Class of 2015. Doug is also a Past Board Chairman for the Tennessee Economic Partnership as well as Past President of both the East Tennessee Industrial Council and the Tennessee Economic Development Council. He is a member of the International Economic Development Council as well as CoreNet Global.
