Robert Martineau

Bob Martineau of Nashville, Tennessee, is the seventh commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), with more than 25 years experience as an attorney in the field of environmental law. Prior to his appointment, he was a partner in the Nashville firm of Waller Lansden Dortch and Davis, after spending seven years as senior attorney for the Office of the General Counsel for the U.S Environmental Protection Agency where he provided counsel in developing New Source Review, New Source Performance Standards and Air Toxics regulations.

Martineau is a member of the Air and Waste Management Association, and a former council member of the Section of Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law of the American Bar Association. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and Cumberlands, and as secretary/treasurer of the Environmental Council of States, the organization of state environmental commissioners.

He holds a law degree from the University of Cincinnati and a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University in Minnesota.
