Serving the People: TVA/BrightRidge Build Habitat for Humanity House

OCTOBER 16, 2017—To celebrate Public Power Week and the year-round service public power employees provide to their communities, TVA and BrightRidge (formerly Johnson City Power Board) teamed up to help build a Holston Habitat for Humanity Home in Johnson City, Tenn. In the photo below, TVA customer service representative Chris Quillen reviews plans to build a shed with BrightRidge volunteers and Holston Habitat’s foreman. The future homeowner, Charles, will put in some “sweat equity” on the home. According to Holston Habitat’s Trish Patterson, Charles and his partner Michelle, will take classes in home ownership and budgeting and then purchase the finished home at a favorable interest rate.
