TVA Supports Boone Lake Association Tire Cleanup

OCTOBER 5, 2017—The Boone Lake Association recently completed the cleanup of 1,200 tires from Boone Lake with the support of TVA, which underwrote the removal costs of the tires that were once used for fish habitats on the lake. After pulling the tires from the lake, the Boone Lake Association crew hauled them to a staging area across from Boone Beach and Boat Ramp where they were transported to the Washington County Tire Recycling Facility in Gray. The project began July 13 and ended August 24. Boone Lake Association’s Ron Siegfried says, “I would like to thank our crew for all their hard work to complete this project in record time.” Siegfried says several board members and volunteers were also instrumental in the tire clean-up. Next up, TVA will work with Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency to create new fish habitats on Boone Lake.
