Fire Truck Continues to Serve

TVA recently donated a fire truck to the City of New Johnsonville Volunteer Fire Department. The former Johnsonville Fossil Plant fire brigade brush truck will continue to serve the Valley in its new home, whose coverage territory includes Johnsonville Combustion Turbine Plant.

“The TVA Johnsonville employees have a long history of giving back to the surrounding communities. After the Johnsonville Fossil Plant transition team ended, there was no longer a need for the fire brigade’s brush truck,” said Mike Parker, site manager, Johnsonville Combustion Turbine Plant. “When we learned of the Fire Department’s need for a truck to fight brush fires, we were happy to hand the keys to the local fire chief.”

The local fire department is made up of volunteers and donations go a long way to serving the community.

“The city is very fortunate to have a community partner like TVA that cares for the safety of our community enough to donate such a great piece of equipment. I cannot express the gratitude I owe all that were involved in the process to donate this vehicle to us," said Dale Allen, Fire Chief of the City of New Johnsonville Volunteer Fire Department. “This brush truck is something we need, and with the fossil plant retired, it’s great it’ll stay in the community it served.”
