Justin Maierhofer
Senior Vice President and Chief of Government Relations
Justin Maierhofer serves as senior vice president and Chief of Government Relations for the Tennessee Valley Authority. In this role, he’s responsible for sharing the value of public power in the seven-state region TVA serves and building strong relationships with local, state and federal government policymakers.
Maierhofer has spent more than 25 years working at the intersection of policy, politics and the energy industry, both in our nation’s capital and the Valley region. Maierhofer joined TVA in 2002 and has served in key leadership roles, including Chief of Staff for three TVA CEOs, vice president of Government Relations, where he supported confirmation of White House nominations to the TVA Board, and as the North Region Executive. Maierhofer also worked with the full-time, three-member TVA board and the TVA congressional delegation on governance changes to TVA in 2005, which resulted in the new nine-member, part-time board and TVA’s first CEO in 2006.
Prior to joining TVA, Maierhofer served in both the executive and legislative branches of government. Maierhofer moved to Washington to accept a position with Speaker Newt Gingrich in the U.S. House of Representatives in January 1996. He was legislative liaison for the U.S. Department of Energy from 2001-‘02, where he was responsible for confirmation of the president’s nominees while serving in the Congressional and Public Affairs office. He also served on the staff of the late U.S. Senator Paul Coverdell from Georgia.
Maierhofer received his Bachelor of Arts in history from Florida State and a master’s degree in political management from George Washington University. He currently resides in Brentwood, Tennessee, with his wife, Kelley, and their three children.
