Little Bear Creek Dam Seepage Statement

February 2018

TVA has completed the initial phase of the investigation of seepage at Little Bear Creek Dam and is currently operating at a lake level of about 609 feet above sea level, which is within the normal winter pool operating guide.

This first phase of the investigation confirmed that the spillway subgrade had not been degraded by seepage or loss of supporting soil. Additionally, the investigation identified potential seepage paths within the dam’s bedrock foundation.

TVA installed instruments in May 2018 and continues to monitor the dam.  The reservoir levels were returned to the normal summer pool (about 620 feet above sea level) and remained on the regular summer operating schedule.
