The open grassy area at the start and the many easy lake access points makes this a popular trail for hikers with dogs who like to play in the water. Take a snack if you plan on hiking to the top of the limestone bluff so you can take a break and enjoy the fabulous view—you might spot a bald eagle. A local Boy Scout troop has labeled many of the tree species found here. This trail is just past Tellico Dam on Hwy. 444, about 30 miles south of Knoxville, Tenn.
